Paving the way for foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, the Midlands Engine region has achieved record breaking figures in the past decade, in which Nottingham ranks top with six foreign investments in 2017. 

Managing Director at EY, Simon O’Neill said: “The Midlands Engine vision for growth is attractive on the international stage and it’s positive that we are seeing it translate into record levels of investment across a broad spectrum of sectors and importantly creating jobs.

The fact that Coventry, Solihull and Nottingham also make the top 20 as significant locations attracting serious inward investment is also major cause for celebration.”


As pioneers in the ever evolving tech sector, Nottingham is a city known for it’s innovative ideas and wealth of tech businesses. 

Esendex, a telecommunications firm based in the city, has partnered up with renowned online supermarket leader Ocado to introduce the ‘next generation of SMS’. Rich Communication Services (RCS) aims to deliver content that users have never experienced before, the branded mobile communication service will even enable consumers to complete purchases and re-schedule appointments without leaving the messaging app. 

Geoff Love, Esendex Chief said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside such a forward-thinking, ambitious company as Ocado to demo the future potential of RCS. We believe that RCS is the next generation of text messaging and can’t wait to show off its capabilities.” 



Ideagen, a company whos roots are planted in Nottingham have signed an exciting software deal with Avion Group, a business that works with the likes of Airbus and Boeing and offers a number of services and products including flight simulation. 

Aiming to professionalise safety and quality management products, the new software named Q-Pulse will enable Avion to work closer with major commercial airlines and their pilots.
