From next year, the business will be expanding into Derbyshire, with a restaurant and takeaway in Long Eaton, located in the former frozen foods store Fultons Foods.

Owner John Molnar said: “Work has commenced but with the Christmas break I haven’t got a definite date for opening - but I’d say mid to end of February.”

As well as a takeaway, there will be a 46-seater restaurant with seaside decor and a wet fish counter at the site in Tamworth Road.

As well as cod and haddock, customers will be able to tuck into sea bass, hake, salmon, monkfish and lobster plus freshly caught seafood such as prawns, scallops, crab and oysters.

Around 15 to 20 full and part-time time jobs will be created.

And in what is believed to be a first for any fish and chip shop in the UK, staff will be offered private healthcare.

Mr Molnar said: “I want to have good staff retention, with people working for me for years.

“I think recruitment is very difficult and you have got to offer over and above what other people offer. I’m fairly certain we will be the first fish and chip shop in the UK to do this.”
