Southside
Regeneration of the 38 hectare Southside area will be led by the redevelopment of The Hub transport interchange and the Southside Business District, Nottingham's emerging business district
The Hub represents an opportunity to create one of the country's leading transport interchanges. Providing first-class rail links and connecting services with Line One of the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram system and future Phase Two lines running South and West of the city centre. £64 million is currently being spent to upgrade Nottingham Railway Station. These works will be completed by 2014 when the planned extension of the NET is also due to open. The vision for the Southside - Nottingham's new business district - is to create high quality office, retail, leisure and hotel accommodation in a business district environment. Over 1 million square feet of office accommodation is currently planned including schemes such as Peel Holdings Unity Square, Wilson Bowden's Sentinel, Bildurn's Station Street scheme and Davidson's Innovative 'Portal' office scheme alongside a major data centre.
Businesses in the area include Capital One, Shoosmith's Solicitors, leading game designers Crytek, HM Revenues and Customs and Nottingham City Council who relocated to a new head office within the Business District in 2010.
