Crowe's Hood could be £46m blockbuster for Notts
5 February 2010Notts could get a £46m boost from new Hollywood blockbuster Robin Hood.
Tourism bosses believe an extra five million people could visit the county when the film, starring Russell Crowe, hits screens worldwide in May.
Nottingham City Council, Notts County Council and other agencies are working to ensure visitors get a full Robin Hood experience.
A Robin Hood Month will celebrate the county's links with the legend.
City council plans include:
- Showing the trailer on a large screen in the city centre.
- Trying to break the record for the most people dressed as Robin Hood in Old Market Square.
- Opening a Robin Hood attraction.
- Creating a film about Sherwood Forest, to be included in DVDs of the movie.
- Holding a regional premiere of the film.
The £46m figure is more than four times what Trent Bridge's staging of the ICC World Twenty20 brought to the area.
