City council suggests making short journeys by foot or bike

20 June 2012

Nottingham City Council is offering advice to people looking to travel on June 28-29 while the Olympic torch is in the area.

The council is warning that there will be some parking restrictions - including for blue badge parking - along the route and that civil enforcement officers will be operating along the route.

The council has said that any vehicle considered a risk or hazard could be towed away.

For residents living on the route of the torch, the council is warning that people will not be able to get in or out of their road for the period of the road closure.

Drivers travelling through the area are being advised to plan ahead and avoid travelling along the route at the time of the relay. In addition, people are being asked to consider making short journeys on foot or by bike.

Those using public transport should expect delays to buses and taxis on or near the route around the road closure times and allow extra time to catch trains or buses.
