Nottingham on global stage with international deans conference

13 January 2012

Over 300 business school deans from 50 countries are to gather in Nottingham for the 2012 EFMD Annual Business School Deans & Directors General Conference, hosted by Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University.

The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) will hold its 40th anniversary, invitation only, conference at Nottingham Conference Centre on 2-3 February with the theme What Deans are interested in...?

Dean of Nottingham Business School and EFMD board member, Professor Baback Yazdani, said: "This is a real triumph for both the university and the city. We will be hosting delegates and distinguished speakers from across Europe and the world, including Egypt, Brazil, China, the USA, India, and many more. It is a fantastic opportunity to show the world what a vibrant city Nottingham is, and to showcase both Nottingham Business School's strengths as one of the top business schools for industry and the exceptional facilities we have at Nottingham Trent University."

The opening address will be given by Sir Richard Lambert, former director general of the Confederation of British Industry and Chancellor of the University of Warwick, who will discuss what businesses need from business schools.

The conference will also tackle important issues such as what business schools need from industry, how the financial crisis influences business school funding, changes in the Arab world, and tomorrow's players in business education.
