Nottingham 'will impress potential developers'
14 September 2011Nottingham's new development chief, David Bishop, says the city will impress potential developers when they visit next Monday to examine investment opportunities.
Mr Bishop, the city council's corporate director of development, will be leading tours of Nottingham's key development sites as part of the Invest in Nottingham Day on September 19.
Plans are on the drawing board for more than £1.6 billion of investment in Nottingham over the next few years.
Mr Bishop said: "Not many other cities can demonstrate such investment momentum, The Hub Railway Station Improvement, Tram Phase Two, Broadmarsh and Victoria Centre transformation, new university buildings... the list goes on. I would expect that many of our visitors will want to get on board with such a progressive city," he said.
The Invest in Nottingham Day will start with an event at Trent Bridge.
Professor David Greenaway, economist and vice chancellor of the University of Nottingham, and Jon Collins, leader of the city council, will be speaking at the event.
Paul Southby, chairman of the Invest In Nottingham Club, said: "We have 19 major enquiries about what we can offer developers in the city and we working hard to convert these enquiries into reality."
Besides development sites, the day will also flag up the strength of the city's bioscience and creative industries and the quality of life provided by its leisure and retail facilities.
