New Marco Pierre White restaurant to open in Nottingham

2 May 2012

Marco Pierre White, is to open a new restaurant in Nottingham.

Called the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, the new restaurant will open at Alea on Upper Parliament Street in the summer.

Following negotiations with Alea's Venue Director Mark Hands, the fiery chef, famed for his no-nonsense approach and Michelin-star food, has confirmed that his latest venture will be at the city-centre venue.

Work is now underway to transform the venue's current eaterie and once complete will comprise everything one would expect from a traditional steakhouse but with the superior quality synonymous from arguably Britain's greatest chef.

Mark said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have someone of Marco's calibre open one of his restaurants at Alea. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to continually bring the best to the venue and we can't wait to open."

The restaurant will have Marco's personality stamped all over it. Like the great man himself the decor will be dark and sultry, alive with his unique brand of charisma and tinged with a hint of his devilish sense of humour.

There will also be sophistication aplenty - discreet lighting, leather table cloths, art deco candle lamps and a simple bright red gerbera centrepiece will add a much needed splash of colour to every table. Marco calls it "affordable glamour" and if there's one thing the new restaurant will boast is ambiance, in abundance.

Mark added: "The current restaurant is to be completely refurbished. The décor will create an intimate venue where guests can relax in comfortable, glamorous surroundings. Added to the lively atmosphere, exquisite food, delicious cocktails, the new restaurant will, it is planned, become the perfect venue for any occasion.

"It again raises the bar in terms of what people can come to expect at restaurants in the region and we look forward to welcoming guests when we open.

"It is also great news for the area as a whole and we hope it will attract more people to the region who will see for themselves why Nottingham is such a great place to visit."

By the age of 33, Marco had become - at the time - the youngest chef to be awarded three Michelin Stars and had working for him Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal.
