Experian's Charlotte Hogg puts economy in spotlight at Nottingham Business School lecture

8 February 2010

THE leader of one of Nottingham's biggest businesses is to put the UK economy under the spotlight in the latest in a series of high-profile lectures.

Charlotte Hogg, managing director of Experian's Nottingham-based UK and Ireland operations, will take the stage at Nottingham Trent University's Nottingham Business School.

The school has held a series of lectures to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and Ms Hogg will follow in the footsteps of CBI director general Richard Lambert, Paul Walsh, the chief executive of global beverages giant Diageo, and former Dragons' Den panelist and technology entrepreneur Doug Richard.

She will speak to invited guests on February 23, when she is expected to analyse the current economic climate, its prospects for the future and some of the key challenges facing UK firms.

She said: "Experian's data allows us to take a snapshot of the current business economy by region, sector, size and type of business, as well as project different scenarios for growth in the future, and its implications for the UK economy.

"Rather than paint a single national picture, we look to paint a picture by region, and even city, to understand which areas are likely to be more resilient."

A former McKinsey consultant and Morgan Stanley strategist, Ms Hogg was in charge of credit card business Goldfish before she joined Experian.

Prof Baback Yazdani, the Dean of the Nottingham Business School, said: "We're delighted that Charlotte could join us during our anniversary year. Her expertise and utilisation of the wealth of knowledge held by Experian makes her uniquely informed about changes in business and consumer behaviour."

The school's 30th anniversary celebrations have also included a talk from CBI chief economic adviser, Ian McCafferty, at the launch of the School's new consultancy unit, Nottingham Economics.

The State of UK Industry - a view from Experian will take place on from 6.30pm-8.30pm in Nottingham Trent University's Newton building. To book, contact the events team on 0115 848 8884 or e-mail bls.marketing@ntu.ac.uk.
