Welcome to Issue 3 of the Invest in Nottingham News Update.

We are pleased to report that since 1^st June Invest in Nottingham has received 33 enquiries. 26 direct enquiries, 7 from East Midlands Development Agency. Of the direct enquiries we took, 2 were Financial and Business Services, 9 Retail and Leisure, 3 Science and Technology, 5 Creative Industries and 7 were from other sectors..

Invest in Nottingham helped co-ordinate a successful visit for 8 FA officials recently as part of Nottingham’s Bid to host the World Cup in 2018.

Global swimwear brand, Speedo, is reinforcing its long-term commitment to the East Midlands and safeguarding high quality jobs for the region’s workers with the announcement of its intention to move its international headquarters to new premises at Ng2, Nottingham’s premier business location.

Invest in Nottingham are hard at work already on plans for MIPIM 2010. Building on the significant successes of 2009 we have once again secured a prime yacht position and are working with our sub regional and private sector partners to get the most out of the next event.

Transport minister Sadiq Khan has granted conditional approval for construction of the second phase of Nottingham’s tram network through a private finance initiative which is valued at £680m.

Nottingham City Council has been successful in their bid for Government PFI credits for a major regeneration scheme in The Meadows.

Launched at MIPIM 2009, the Council bid for £200m and will be awarded a share of a £1.9bn Government Private Finance Initiative (PFI) for housing improvements.

Three Nottingham Creative Business entrepreneurs have been given a key stage on the Southbank of London as part of Wayne Hemingway’s latest scheme KiosKiosK.

The opportunity comes as Nottingham is looking to enhance its profile as a creative city of national and international importance. Part of the wider push on Nottingham’s creativity includes this year’s Nottingham Creative Business Awards (7 October, 2009) and the Roses Design Awards (23 October, 2009).

Invest in Nottingham are seeking like minded organisations that want to bask in the glory of Nottingham hosting the Roses Design Awards for the first time ever on 23 October 2009.

Invest in Nottingham have been working with the Confetti Media Group to help them attract new creative businesses to their new venue Antenna. A launch event is planned for the only Dolby licensed centre outside of London in October this year to attract both local and national businesses to Nottingham.

This year Invest in Nottingham and City Centre Management Team will be taking a stand at the BCSC conference being held this year at the Manchester Central Monday 9th - Wednesday 11th November 2009.

The Invest in Nottingham and Economic Development team hosted a group of visitors from the Kansas Animal Health Corridor and City of Columbia, Missouri in July. The visit was the first stage to developing economic development links between the Animal Health sectors of Kansas and the East Midlands.

The Southside regeneration area of the city could become the next office quarter of Nottingham following a series of discussions with developers and local partners.

Nottingham’s River Crescent Development has gone from strength to strength in recent months with a series of high-profile industry award wins.

Following the recent accolades from the Daily Mail Awards for Best Architecture, Best Development and Best Apartment, River Crescent has gained further national recognition by winning the Your New Home/Daily Telegraph Award for Best Waterside Development.
